Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Becoming the confident creator of your life & home is a vital piece in meaningful homemaking. Without deep, individual confidence, we risk the chance of losing ourselves to a game of “keeping up with the Jones’s”. But how do you gain the self assurance needed to truly become the creator that captains your family’s legacy and home’s design?

In this message you will find the hope & the plan you need to become the confident creator of your home.

Why the Title “Creator” Matters

To build the home & life of our dreams, it is crucial that we see ourselves as creators. This identifier ties us to the Divine. That connection helps us to reiterate our truest self with our highest potential, helping us to grow past limitations that would otherwise dictate how big we think. This also eliminates imposter syndrome as we start to see that there really is no such thing as an imposter when you show up as your truest self. The identifier of creator also inspires us to build continuously towards the vision we created, so we can see it actualized.

There are a few specific confidences that aid us in seeing ourselves as creators. Those include…

  1. Confidence In Your Destination

  2. Confidence In Your Uniques

  3. Confidence Built From Discipline

We will dive deeper into each of these so we know how to develop them and why they play a crucial role in confidently claiming the title of creator.

Confidence In Your Destination

Knowing the target that you are headed for gives you great confidence. This confidence comes from making choices that guide you towards your ultimate destination, instead of the feeling of aimlessly wandering — only hoping we end up somewhere good. How does one define that target to make those choices confidently?

We preach the importance of creating a vision constantly. This practice is simple & exciting. By sitting down with yourself & defining what it is you really want to be working toward, you allow yourself to see your greatest potential. This can be applied to both a literal vision (home design, what you want your home to look like) and personal vision. You also recognize where you have opportunities to grow towards that potential & build a plan that will guide you there. This vision will enable you to map out your journey and walk your trail confidently (also knowing that when you get off course, you will know how to course correct!). This surety enables you to become a confident decision maker — a key attribute of creators. Making choices confidently will keep you creating, even when those choices lead to “failure”. You’ll have the momentum & vision to know that there is always a chance to course correct & create anew.

Confident In Your Uniques

We are constantly fed the idea that only certain types of design, ideas, traditions, people, etc. belong. There is judgement about every possible thing you could choose to do or believe (thanks internet). Sometimes it feels like someone is constantly standing over us, smacking a ruler in hand, ready to put us back in our place if we deviate even slightly from the “norms”. This feeling of pseudo-shame has caused many of us to quit daring to create.

I have found deep admiration for people who pursue creation unashamed. They can do this because they are confident in their destination, and pursue rituals & traditions according to their own conscience. They deny the idea of “Keeping up with the Jones’s” because they know that pursuing their personal desires will bring them much greater fulfillment. They choose colors, patterns & design based on their genuine preference & passions. They make decisions that reflect their personal culture without consideration of social acceptance. While these choices may reflect trends, they are confident that they made the choice based on what they love & not because someone else will readily accept it.

It can be difficult to fully, confidently embrace what makes you unique. As you practice doing this you will find the assurance that you are a creator. You will be able to disregard distraction & doubt, moving forward with confidence that you are accomplishing what is uniquely yours to create.

Confidence Built From Discipline

What are some of the most tactical ways to build confidence generally, so that we can captain our lives with less doubt? There are a few disciplines that come to mind that have allowed me to accomplish this greater sense of confidence, instilling a creator’s spirit in me.

My personal self-assurance has come as a direct output of taking care of my personal health & wellness. I would describe this as whole health, as I’m considering much more than just physical wellness. A focus on the key pillars of health (physical, mental, social & spiritual) have gifted me energy & clarity. When I’ve struggled to maintain that health & feel a sense of overwhelm, I have a personal reset plan that helps me with the course corrections necessary to continue moving on a path towards my ultimate destination. These ideas of whole health & a personal reset plan are some of the key things taught inside my Foundation First course, because they are a vital part of maintaining the spirit of a creator.

To Sum It All Up

There is much to look forward to when we can attain the confidence that we are a creator. When we realize ourselves as a creator we move forwards & upwards with confidence. Never with perfection, but with bold decision making & course correcting when necessary. We accomplish all of this without the shame that slows our progress. We eliminate doubt & comparison. Our homes & lives become a true reflection of what is authentically inside of us. We seek change & growth, excited about the stretch rather than dreading it. Ultimately, we reflect & learn from the divine traits of the Creator.

Where to Start:
